A Saturday afternoon spent at the Brooklyn Flea where I bought two pairs of hoop earrings from Birdhouse Jewelry meant we needed to find a place for lunch afterwards. Walking down Atlantic Avenue, heading towards Nicki’s for some Pho and pork chops with broken rice, we came across a new eatery with the words ‘More than just a Restaurant’ across the front door. Curious enough and intrigued by the long wooden communal tables awaiting us inside, we decided to give a go. Vietnamese food was going to have to wait for another day.

Maimonide of Brooklyn is a new vegan joint featuring a menu chock full of open faced sandwiches, each meant to give you a boost of energy, strength, and well-being. Give it a try if you are in the neighborhood. You’ll be surprised by how delicious a non-dairy, non-meat snack can really be. You’ll be satisfied and full without feeling so bloated you’ll want to unbutton your jeans and lay down. Good, right?
