Since my new role as a social media guru/blogger for my sister’s design agency, I have been reading everything I can get my hands on. I mean, you find inspiration from everything, right? I now have a subscription to Reed Pages, Nylon, Afterzine, Bullett, Elle Decor, and Wallpaper. I know, I know…I should already have these magazines lying around my apartment. But my newest find is by far my favorite because of one particular article.

Loving Spoonfuls written by Giao Trac is a mini memory in word form about the connection of home to the lovely comfort of food. Che, a Vietnamese sweet bean pudding, is a dish my mother makes every time I come home from Brooklyn. For some reason, it’s always waiting on the stove or contained in tupperware in the fridge. My mother’s recipe is usually made with black eye peas and rice, but Trac’s uses mung bean and tapioca. I’ve had this version many a times and I can say it’s incredibly good, and warming, and so quintessentially Vietnam.

The article can be found in the Fall 2011 issue.
