Orange is your friend

As well as finding a new love for the combination of chocolate and raspberry, I also found new respect for chocolate and orange. This is a homage to one of my favorite candies by Lindt. They take a decadent dark chocolate and add thin slivers of almonds and citrus peel. Try my recipe. Almonds take a front row seat in my version, but it will still make a lovely gift or a satisfying little nosh after dinner.

Recipe: Chocolate Almond Bark

1 1/4 cups of bittersweet chocolate (I prefer 60% cacao for this recipe.)

1/2 cup plain whole almonds, chopped

Zest of one orange

Sea salt to sprinkle on top

  • In a bowl fitted on top of pot of simmering water, melt the chocolate.
  • Add chopped almonds. Stir to combine.
  • On a parchment lined baking sheet, smooth almond and chocolate mixture into an even layer.
  • Grate orange zest on top.
  • Sprinkle sea salt as well.
  • Cool to allow bark to firm up.
  • Break into pieces and enjoy.
